The sun shined brightly at the Access Communications Community Park for the 15th Annual Labour Day Show N Shine event. Access Communications Co-operative, the Collectors Car Club of Saskatchewan, and title sponsor CAA Saskatchewan came together to host the event, which set a new bar for funds raised for the Regina Food Bank at an estimated $46,300.
The Annual Labour Day Show N Shine brings together community members, businesses, and car enthusiasts to further the collectible car hobby and raise money towards fighting hunger in Regina. The show has been running since 2007 and has generated nearly $300,000 for the Regina Food Bank. Monday’s show drew over 5,000 spectators and over 500 vehicles.
“We couldn’t ask for a more perfect day for our biggest show yet,” said Jim Deane, CEO of Access Communications. “With the demand for Regina Food Bank services higher than ever, we’re grateful to the community for showing up and helping us make a difference. The show is a labour of love, and we’re unbelievably grateful for the volunteers, sponsors, and car enthusiasts who make it all possible.”
“CAA Saskatchewan was proud to return as presenting sponsor,” said Fred Titanich, President and CEO of CAA Saskatchewan. “Our CAA Family Fun Zone was popular with families and kids of all ages, with everything from face painting to hourly contests and prizes. We also provided complimentary Nimbus water served in CAA water bottles to help folks stay hydrated during an unusually hot September afternoon. We know that Show N Shine is held to support families in need through the Regina Food Bank, and at CAA, we’re all about helping families. As a dedicated member-based business and long-time community advocate, we are pleased to offer our support.”
“The Labour Show N Shine is such an incredible example of our community coming together and this year brought together more fun and more sun than ever before,” said John Bailey, CEO of the Regina Food Bank. “For the 15th edition of this event to set a record for funds raised is a testament to the show itself and an incredible embodiment of neighbours feeding neighbours. There has been a record demand at our Food Bank, and we know we will also be able to meet the need because our city has our back. Thank you to CAA Saskatchewan, the Collectors Car Club, Access Communications, and all the volunteers, guests, and exhibitors. Your support makes our work possible.”
