Cold Weather, Warm Hearts

Cold Weather, Warm Hearts campaign launches with donation for 30,000 meals

Regina Food Bank is honoured to partner with the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) for the Cold Weather, Warm Hearts awareness and fundraising campaign. Cold Weather, Warm Hearts is an initiative aimed at increasing donations and support for Regina Food Bank during the cold winter months. This support allows your Food Bank to continue providing healthy, nutritious food choices and program support to children, adults, and seniors who live with food insecurity. HSAS has kick-started the campaign with a $10,000 donation. This is 30,000 meals that we will help our neighbours who need a hand up.

“Hunger and food insecurity is a reality in our community 12 months a year. During this time of year support can often wane while the numbers of those facing food insecurity remain high. Every month the Regina Food Bank provides support to around 10,000 people in our city, 40 per cent of whom are children. The support of HSAS and their membership will help ensure that no one faces hunger alone” said John Bailey, CEO – Regina Food Bank.

In the months of February and March, the Regina Food Bank sees an increased demand for services but typically fewer donations. The Cold Weather, Warm Hearts campaign has been created to support food security through these hard winter months.

“Regina Food Bank programs and initiatives share the many facets of healthy living – growing, preparing and sharing food, eating well and staying healthy. As health care professionals, members of Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan understand the important work done by the Regina Food Bank” HSAS President, Karen Wasylenko explained.

“I encourage you to join HSAS in supporting Regina Food Bank this month to help our neighbours and friends who benefit from Regina Food Bank.”

Financial donations to Regina Food Bank will make an impact on many people’s lives. One dollar in donations equals three meals. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps support the work Regina Food Bank does in the community.

Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan is passionate about supporting the work of Regina Food Bank. They’re encouraging their our members and the community to donate funds they can.
